Adventure Therapy Programmes are solution-focused and humanistic in their orientation. Therapeutic programmes also have important behavioural principles, particularly for programmes involving incarcerated youths. Evidence shows that the therapeutic value, challenges participants and encourages them to learn about their reactions and relationships.
The primary task of Trinity House School is to provide a secure caring educational rehabilitative environment for young people. In normal circumstances behaviour modification is achieved by the use of the rating systems, where rewards are used rather than extensive imposition of disciplinary measures. However, there are times when young people will or can not achieve the required level within the current raking system. This inability to reach this required level inhibits a young person in accessing 'mobilities' or progressing within their care programme. To address this problematic area an Adventure Therapy Mobility Programme was designed to target young people who could not progress within the current level system.
The Adventure Therapy Group's primary role is to provide a single or a series of therapy 'mobilities' in the outdoors, these 'mobilities' are designed to build relationships and treat the underlining causes / problematic areas which inhibit a young person's ability to progress within Trinity House School.
